It’s always nice to know more about the people looking after your finances, so I thought it would be a good idea to do a little Q&A with some of the SECU staff. Since Rio Rancho is the newest branch location, I decided they’d be the best people to ask.
But I wanted to get creative with my Q&A, so rather than ask a few standard questions, I just went through their purses. No big deal, right? Thankfully, the ladies of the Rio Rancho branch were as obliging as they are lovely, and so they gave me a peek inside their bags. Here’s what I found:
Maritza Dominguez
Personal Service Representative
Hair ties. “I’m a single mom with two daughters, ages 10 and 16. One is a gymnast and always needs a hair tie!”
Cell phone. “It keeps me in contact with my family who still live in Peru, and other family who live here in the states. It also keeps me up to date with current events and in contact with my friends.”
Band-Aids. “Great for emergency boo boos, and, surprisingly, a great way to start conversations when you encounter someone in need of a Band-Aid.”
Sunscreen. “My oldest daughter often forgets to put sunscreen before her softball games. Luckily, I go to all her games, and have rescued her—and her team—from getting sunburned. Needless to say, the entire team has nice tans.”
Nuvita fitness tracker belt and watch. “I love to exercise and I am ready to use my exercise belt and watch at any time. I’ve been known to utilize my lunch hour to fit in a cardio session a few times a week. The belt and watch monitor my progress. They also remind me to make good healthy choices every day.”
Business cards. “I love my job and what we do here at SECU. Helping members save money is very rewarding and makes me feel good about the career I have chosen. I want to tell everyone how we are here to help with their finances and explain how we can save them money.”
Makeup bag. “Keeps me looking fresh and feeling my best when working with members in the branch, and out in the community.”
Felisha Jaramillo
Member Service Representative
My planner. “I use it to keep organized and to remind me of upcoming events and business development projects.”
A lot of receipts. “Knowing where your money went is key to keeping a well-balanced budget.”
A makeup bag and a hairbrush. “I work with members all day long, so have to look my best!”
Allergy medicine. “I often have allergies, so I need it to keep me focused and feeling good.”
Phone charger. “Because my phone can’t die. It just can’t.”
Legos. “Best entertainment for my little boy (he’s 8), while we are on the go.”
Shoes. “I wear flats when commuting to work and then change into my high heels when I get in.”
Business cards. “I’m always looking for opportunities to talk to people about SECU, and all the benefits we offer. I even do it when I’m not at work—I’m a true believer in this credit union! Having a quick business card ready is essential to keeping in touch.”
Tanya Cisneros
Operations Supervisor
Phone. “My phone is my lifeline to everything. I am able to keep in contact with my co-workers, family and a resource for searching information on line.”
Business cards. “I never miss out on an opportunity to represent the credit union. When I hand out my cards I feel good about what SECU offers and the service the Rio Rancho branch provides to its membership.”
Wallet to match my designer bag. “Quality is important to me. You might spend a little more upfront, but in the long run you don’t have to replace your bag or wallet as often.”
Name tag. “I always have it ready to wear for the day and for after-work events.”
Hair tie. “Most women like to let their hair down (literally) after work. But me, I prefer tying it up.”
SECU keychain flashlight. “When I financed my car at SECU, I was given this at my closing and it sure has been very handy, especially when it’s dark out and I’m trying to unlock my door. Proof that SECU looks out for you in as many ways as possible!
Loose change. “You never know when you might need a couple quarters for the parking meter or just a cup of coffee on the go.”
Coupons and sale ads. “I love coupons. I always try to save a buck or two whenever I can. Saving money is important and I apply this philosophy when helping members. I always look for ways they can save on loan rates and enjoy rewarding them with high dividends on their deposits. Really, a Kasasa account is the only way to go—they offer all sorts of rewards and are absolutely free!”
Lottery ticket. “I usually buy one every week. Someone has to win, and unless you buy a ticket, you don’t have a chance. I think of life the same way. If you don’t take calculated risks and get out of your comfort zone, you won’t ever reach your personal or professional goals.”
