Don’t get us wrong: we love exploring the Land of Enchantment’s natural wonders, national parks and monuments, and hidden hikes. But with spring still weeks away, we thought we would round up the top indoor activities available to enjoy in New Mexico while Mother Nature continues to give us the cold shoulder. Hang up your coat and take a look:
Revel in the Outdoors From Inside
What if you could enjoy all the grand views our landscape has to offer while staying warm and toasty? Enter the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway: offering endless colorful New Mexican vistas, the Tram climbs with its passengers to top out at 10,300 feet in elevation, right at the top of Sandia Peak. Treat yourself to a casual or fine dining experience overlooking the Rio Grande Valley before taking in the panoramic views all the way down. This elevating experience in Albuquerque only takes 15 minutes each way!
Speaking of Elevation
Thousands of New Mexicans are jumping for joy at indoor trampoline parks. The greater Albuquerque area alone has a least five, and our northwest friends in Farmington are supporting two of the bouncy businesses. Some offer team building, others offer adventure parks and indoor playgrounds. There are plenty to choose from, but here are the top three Yelp-rated trampoline parks in Albuquerque to get you started on your journey to jumping: Urban Air Adventure Park, Fallout Trampoline Area, and Cool Springz.
New Mexico Museums Hit Different
Typically, the word ‘museum’ conjures images of quiet, sterile, or perhaps even boring experiences. But this is New Mexico, and you know we do it our own way. We have a collection of what some might consider the most uniquely curious array of museums contained within one state. From rattlesnakes to telephone history, New Mexico’s lineup of museums does not disappoint. Reptiles and bugs? Check. Toy trains? Yep. Aliens? Of course. And Billy the Kid. And hot air balloons. If you have a quirky interest, New Mexico might just have a museum for that. If you’re more into turquoise, Puebloan history, or southwestern art, you can find that too.
Immerse Yourself Right Meow
Is there any better way to beat the winter blues than to completely jolt your sense of reality? The artists that built Meow Wolf’s House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe {https://meowwolf.com/} transport your imagination to a new realm, and help you remember to not take everything so seriously. The original immersive art experience has inspired two (and soon three) additional locations with people flocking from all over the world to get a peek inside. Whether it’s your first time or your fourteenth, you’ll always have a unique experience at Meow Wolf.
Stay warm, and enjoy the great New Mexican indoors!
